South East

Jevington

The villages of Jevington and Filching, close to the western edge of Eastbourne in East Sussex, suffer from increasing volumes of fast through-traffic. The narrow rural lane that threads through the settlement no longer feels safe or comfortable for pedestrians or cyclists.

The many equestrian businesses in the village have to cope with the dangers of fast, aggressive driving. The village pub, village hall and the small businesses that serve the South Downs Way suffer from an increasingly hostile pedestrian environment.

Hamilton-Baillie Associates have prepared a study and set of recommendations for addressing traffic issues in the village. This was presented and adopted in January 2015.
