Coventry

Coventry is an unusual city. Largely rebuilt after the catastrophic bombing of the 2nd World War, it is served by a grade-separated ring road, generous car-parking provision, and wide streets. But the City Centre is undergoing something of a renaissance, thanks in part to consistent investment in key streets and spaces.

Hamilton-Baillie Associates provided strategic guidance and advice to help initiate a low-speed context for the City Centre streets and spaces. Work included the regeneration of Broadgate Square, together with spaces frequented by students from the university such as Gosford Street and Square. Access to and from the railway station has been transformed. Measures to reduce clutter, enhance the entrances into the city, reduce speeds and improve legibility continue across the CityCcentre.
