Stonehouse
Hamilton-Baillie Associates worked with Stonehouse Town Council and Gloucestershire County Council to transform the quality of the main high street in the small town of Stonehouse, near Stroud.
Budget constraints meant that only a relatively short section of the high street could be modified. This meant that traffic speeds have not reduced as much as intended. Nevertheless the measures have restored a distinctive quality to the centre of the town, creating stronger connections within and across the High Street and a greatly increased presence and visibility for pedestrians and cyclists.
