Long Ashton
Long Ashton (as its name suggests) is an elongated village on the south-western edge of Bristol. Despite its bypass, the village continues to suffer from fast, aggressive driving, and lacks a coherent centre. The historic qualities, shops and excellent pubs have suffered from the impact of speeds and traffic dominance.
Hamilton-Baillie Associates prepared a comprehensive long-term plan in 2013, which was warmly welcomed and strongly endorsed by the Parish Council. Among the many recommendations was the removal of the centre line markings, and a reduction in the perceived width of the carriageway. Most of the more significant measures await implementation.
