Icon, Street, Somerset

ICON, a new housing development in Street in Somerset, was developed by Crest Nicholson following a masterplan for the site prepared by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, with support from Grant Associates and street design principles by Hamilton-Baillie Associates. The  new housing achieved a high standard of energy conservation and sustainability, and was identified by Design Council CABE as an exemplar of contemporary street design.

Lime Tree Square, the first phase of the development, received a “Building for Life” award. The assessors gave the scheme the highest score ever for contemporary housing, with a particular focus on the quality of the streetscape and pedestrian environment.  The judging panel called Icon “the first real milestone in the evolution of layout, house and car parking since Poundbury…”
